Sewing Class 2023!
A few pictures of the Sewing Class kids in action. Pics taken by the teacher, Ms. Fuller. A huge thank you again to our 9 CCQ volunteers who are helping engage these future sewers/quilters. These kids are having “sew” much fun!
Last Learn to Sew Class of 2023. A huge shout out to all those who volunteered to help teach these eager, enthusiastic students. Pam, Cindy, Wendy, Rosemary, Beth, Cheryl, Erika, Mary and Julie. (Sorry if I forgot anyone). Unfortunately, all were not available for this picture. We had 13 students, three of them returning to take the class again. Last but not least, thank you to Chris Fuller, retired teacher, for volunteering to lead this class. (author and photographer – Cheryl Breitenfeldt)
Sewing Class 2022
Some members of our guild volunteered to assist Mrs. Chris Fuller, math teacher at the Eagle River Elementary School, in guiding 10 students through an introduction to sewing class. The school provided the sewing machines and the girls started by learning the parts of a sewing machine, then sewing without thread on paper and progressing to using fabric. As the pictures reflect, the girls created a variety of items, including a nine-patch pillow, a tote bag, pillowcases with french seams, a fleece scarf with a slip through hole and a fabric bowl. The girls did great and enjoyed the class so much they wanted it to continue after the 9 week program ended! We hope some of the girls will display their work at our quilt show in 2024. Thanks to all the members that helped with this program.
